The Holidays Are Near – Shop Small (Including at the Mall!)
As the holiday season approaches, people around our region are making their shopping list and checking it twice. Luckily for us, Upper Merion Township is truly a one-stop-shop, as it boasts over 7.6M square feet of retail space and is home to an incredible number of major retailers from around the world.
One might assume that in a community ripe with larger businesses (retail or otherwise), smaller businesses might not have their place. However, King of Prussia has invested in establishing a business-friendly ecosystem that supports and uplifts businesses of all sizes. There are hundreds of small businesses located in Upper Merion Township, and King of Prussia specifically, including numerous small businesses located in retail centers that might surprise you.
“The trend of wanting to “shop small” continues, and what we want people to know is that there are literally hundreds of small businesses to patronize right here in Upper Merion Township, including in the King of Prussia Mall and King of Prussia Town Center You may be ‘shopping small,’ and not even realize it!” said Andrea Esqueda, Chair of the Upper Merion Economic & Community Development Committee (ECDC).
The Upper Merion ECDC and King of Prussia District encourage you to “shop small” in Upper Merion Township this holiday season. According to American Express, for every $1 spent at a small business, an average of $0.67 stays in the community.
“There are over 170 small businesses in Upper Merion Township that are registered participants of the popular American Express “Small Business Saturday” initiative,” said Esqueda. “We encourage residents and visitors alike to patronize all businesses in Upper Merion, and this holiday season, to especially seek out and patronize our local small businesses who are a vital part of our local economy.”
