Community Who Cares: Upper Merion Area Community Cupboard

Each month, our Community Who Cares series highlights a local organization working to make King of Prussia a more compassionate, connected place.
This month, we’re shining a light on the Upper Merion Area Community Cupboard (UMACC), a grassroots, volunteer-run food pantry serving families within the Upper Merion Area School District. Launched in 2018 by a group of residents and school district staff, UMACC began as a small initiative to support students whose families were struggling to access consistent meals. It quickly grew into a lifeline for hundreds of households across King of Prussia, Bridgeport and West Conshohocken.
UMACC provides weekly groceries and essential household items to anyone living in the school district who is in need of support. Shelves are stocked with non-perishable foods, fresh produce, dairy, meats and toiletries, offering not only nutrition but also dignity, reliability and a sense of care. What sets UMACC apart is its deeply community-driven model: it’s entirely volunteer-powered and funded through donations from individuals, local businesses, civic groups and faith-based organizations. With strong ties to the school district, the pantry is also uniquely positioned to identify families in need and respond quickly and confidentially.
There are many ways to get involved. Volunteers help with everything from sorting donations to packing bags and distributing food. Community members can also contribute by donating funds or pantry staples, or by hosting food drives to collect high-need items. Every can of soup, every hour given and every dollar donated helps feed a neighbor and strengthen the fabric of our community.
You can also get involved by participating in King of Prussia District’s annual food drive and pop-up igloo garden experience, Igloo Garden on the Green, at King of Prussia Town Center, with all donated food items and funds raised through igloo reservation fees benefiting UMACC.
UMACC is a shining example of what’s possible when a community cares for its own. As the need continues to grow, so does their impact. To learn more, make a donation or find volunteer opportunities, visit umacc.org.
