Bee Merry, Eat Honey
That’s a wrap…or a jar of honey for the King of Prussia District Beehives.
We are celebrating our second year working with commercial beekeeping group, Alveole, by distributing the fruits of our honeybees’ labor! The first 100 attendees of our December 12 Pop-up Café in Renaissance Park will be gifted a sample jar of honey harvested from our KOP hives, as will those who attend our Holiday Reception at Topgolf on December 14.
From May through December, our beehives and beekeepers remained quite active, with each hive reaching up to 50,000 inhabitants at the height of the season, all working to maintain the colony. Over the summer and fall, King of Prussia District sponsored 4 free workshops and over a dozen hive-side activities, like DIY flower carts and pop-up cafés, for the public to get hands-on experience with beekeeping and honey harvesting in Moore Park and Renaissance Park.
Since 2013, Alveole has worked with more than 500 companies, schools and residential properties to install hives on rooftops and lawns across North America while teaching the public about bees and biodiversity. King of Prussia District looks forward to providing more workshops and experiences with our Renaissance Park and Moore Park beehives next season! Stay up-to-date on all the buzz on our King of Prussia District Beehive page.
