King of Prussia District Beehives
Meet the Bees of King of Prussia
What's that buzzing you hear? We partner with a commercial beekeeping group to maintain two hives of these important pollinators in King of Prussia and to teach the public about bees and biodiversity!
King of Prussia District partners with commercial beekeeping group Aveole to maintain two honey bee hives, at Recharge Park in Moore Park and in Renaissance Park, where colonies can reach up to 50,000 bees at the height of the season.
Our beekeeper inspects each hive every three weeks, and the public is welcome to watch and ask questions at maintenance visits or sign up for free workshops. This year, the program grew to include three Wild BeeHomes for native bees like mason and leafcutter bees, plus new pollinator “Bee Havens” plantings in Moore Park, with additional signage and a walking route coming next year.

Moore Park
In 2022, King of Prussia District installed a beehive along the First Avenue Linear Park. The hive sparked a lot of buzz and was well-received by businesses and employees along the park.
In summer and fall, check out exciting free workshops and events with the honey bees. Our beekeeper is on site every 3 weeks to inspect the hive and answer questions. In summer of 2026, King of Prussia District has expanded its educational pollinator efforts with three Wild BeeHomes in Moore Park, designed to provide nesting space for cavity-nesting native bees, such as mason bees and leafcutter bees. Each BeeHome can hold up to 400 bee cocoons, creating habitat for these beneficial insects while giving visitors another opportunity to learn about pollinators.
UPCOMING HIVE MAINTENANCE AND WORKSHOPS:
The public is welcome to attend hive maintenance visits to learn more about the honey bees, directly from our Beekeeper! Workshops are free to the public, but have limited capacity and require registration.

All hive maintenance visits are at 12 PM
