MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA -King of Prussia-based Workhorse Brewing Company is thrilled to announce the launch of “The Workhorse Tour”, an exciting new golf initiative with a unique and compelling format. The concept brings the competitive spirit and tournament structure of professional golf to recreational players in Greater Philadelphia, with the bonus of flexible scheduling and real-time scoring powered by industry leader Golf Genius. Week-long tournaments are hosted at area public courses, allowing golfers of all abilities to tee it up at their convenience, earning points to climb the season-long standings and earn a spot in the Tour Championship.
With a 6-month season spanning May through October,Workhorse Tour events take place at over 20 courses in Southeastern PA as well as three,one-day member outings at local private clubs. To join the Tour, golfers register via a $25 membership fee, which includes a $25 draft beer gift card for the King of Prussia Taproom, as well as a GHIN number from the USGA. This is used to calculate a handicap index and ensures a level playing field for golfers regardless of skill level. Once registered, Workhorse Tour members can use the app to view and book any open tee time during each week-long tournament window. Upon completion of their round, their posted score will appear on tournament and season-long leader boards. There is no minimum participation requirement for the number of tournaments;golfers can play as often as their schedule allows.

To help ensure that golfers remain well hydrated,Workhorse has brewed an exclusive beer for Tour partners; a lightly hopped, low-ABV Blonde Ale perfect for both the course and 19th hole. Each participating course also received a completely custom label design, branded with their logo and devised to drive food and beverage revenues at each location.

“Since our inception, Workhorse has always sought unique ways to differentiate ourselves in the highly competitive world of craft beer,” said brewery Co-Founder and Tour GM Dan Hershberg.“The Workhorse Tour is a creative way to achieve that goal and by allowing for competitive golf to be played on a flexible schedule, it also helps solve a real problem for amateurs everywhere. We’re excited to be able to offer something of value to both golfers and our retail partners, while simultaneously growing our brand awareness in the local market.”

The Workhorse Tour kicks off its inaugural season on May 10th at Raven’s Claw Golf Club in Pottstown, and the full schedule of events can be found at the Tour website,workhorsetour.com, where the app is available for mobile use. Tour sponsors include Conlin’s, Capstone Group, Founding Farmers (KOP) and Kunda Beverage, and Tour leader boards will be featured weekly on Inside Golf, the long-running and popular show airing on NBC Sports Philadelphia. Additional Tour partners include Montco Golf from the Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board and Golf Genius, while all Tour members also gain membership at the Golf Association of Philadelphia(GAP). To learn more about the Workhorse Tour, please visit our website or contact Dan Hershberg at the information above.
