Pivoting Businesses to Serve the Community

While there’s no denying that this pandemic has far-reaching implications for our nation’s economy, we have found ourselves inspired by the businesses in King of Prussia that have thoughtfully, creatively and swiftly responded. The word pivot is everywhere these days, but it is the perfect way to describe how these businesses have turned on a dime to remain relevant and serve the public during this unprecedented time.

At the very start of the state-wide shutdown, many of our King of Prussia restaurants immediately went into action vamping up their take-out and delivery services. As regulations tightened, they started offering curbside pick-up, taking extra steps to avoid contact with their customers. Even Workhorse Brewing Company got in on the action, offering beer (and party packs!) for pick-up or delivery. We have a list of those still open for curbside pick-up and delivery in our community here.

Recognizing that people were having a hard time getting their hands on essential goods via the grocery store, a few restaurants took it a step further by opening mini-markets. Founding Farmers has introduced a market and grocery, open for curbside pick-up and delivery, which features a robust selection of  prepared foods, freshly baked breads and pastries, house-churned ice cream, pantry staples, and some of those household essentials that are so hard to get, like toilet paper. Fogo de Chao also stepped up with Fogo to-go, offering produce, eggs, milk, fresh fruit and a selection of meats from their butcher shop. Many of your favorite steak and seafood houses, including Sullivan’s Steakhouse, The Capital Grille, Morton’s The Steakhouse and Eddie V’s Prime Seafood, are also offering a wonderful selection of meat to cook at home…and bottles of wine to-go!

With all of that good food at the ready, KOP’s fitness centers want to remind you that even though the gyms are closed, you can still keep active!  Elle Fit, ilovekickboxing.com, f45 Training, Dub Fitness and Stillpoint Yoga and Float are helping people stay lean during the quarantine with virtual classes for their followers.

In what might be the biggest and most heart-warming pivot in KOP, Slay Displays, which typically produces specialty arrangements for events like large, illuminated letters and flower walls, quickly shifted gears and started producing face shields for doctors and nursing staff. As of April 28, they donated 2,500 shields to 76 facilities!

Finally, many KOP businesses have added services or products to address commercial building re-occupancy for when the stay-at-home order is lifted.  From PPE, to commercial cleaning, to temperature monitoring, we encourage you to “shop local” when planning your re-occupancy.  Check out this list of KOP companies that can help.
