New $500K Grant Paves Way for Moore Road Multimodal Trail
In November 2024, the proposed Moore Road Multimodal Trail and Linear Park received a generous $500,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ (DCNR) Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2).
This is one of three grants awarded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, totaling over $1.7 million, to help bring this exciting new pedestrian connection to life. The project will link the First Avenue Linear Park to the Schuylkill River Trail West, creating access to over 400 miles of the Circuit Trail throughout the Delaware Valley.
DCNR’s 2024 C2P2 funding distributed $79.4 million to more than 300 projects across the state, including 16 right here in Montgomery County. These grants are made possible through state and federal funding, helping local governments and nonprofits bring more recreational and conservation spaces to communities.
Our journey to this point started back in December 2021, when King of Prussia District hired Simone Collins Landscape Architecture to get input from local businesses, residents and community organizations. Through interviews, surveys and visioning sessions, the team created the Moore Road Multimodal Trail and Linear Park Concept Study, which outlines everything from a smooth, pedestrian and cyclist-friendly path to seating areas, pedestrian lighting and vibrant landscaping. This isn’t just about creating a trail—it’s about transforming a once-auto-centric corridor into a welcoming, people-friendly space for both residents and commuters alike.
With the support of local leaders like State Representative Tim Briggs and State Senator Amanda Cappelletti, these grants push the trail project one step closer to completion. The next phase includes finalizing design plans and breaking ground on construction. We can’t wait to see this vision come to life and offer a new way for the community to connect, move and enjoy everything King of Prussia has to offer!
