Moore Road Trail Project Gets Big Boost from the Commonwealth
Upper Merion Township and King of Prussia District’s proposed Moore Road Multimodal Trail and Linear Park was awarded a $612,649 grant from the Commonwealth Finance Authority’s Multimodal Transportation Fund (CFA MTF) program.
Once complete, the project will create a pedestrian link from the First Avenue Linear Park in Moore Park to the Schuylkill River Trail West, thus connecting it with 400-miles of the Circuit Trail throughout the Delaware Valley region. Upper Merion Township and King of Prussia District continue to apply for additional grants to add to this significant funding and move the project into the final design, engineering and permitting phase.
The transportation project began in December 2021 when King of Prussia District hired Simone Collins Landscape Architecture to engage commercial property owners, business tenants, public agency representatives and residents in a visioning, interview and survey process. The result culminated in production of the Moore Road Multimodal Trail and Linear Park Report, which lays out plans for a pedestrian and bicycle-friendly asphalt path, this action plan outlines a variety of amenities and improvements, including seating areas, pedestrian lighting and vibrant landscaping to fundamentally change this auto-centric corridor into a pedestrian and cycling-friendly neighborhood for residents, employees and visitors to enjoy. With strong support from State Representative Tim Briggs and State Senator Amanda Cappelletti, the CFA MTF grant helps move the trail project closer to 100% design development.
