District Digest: Funding Our Vision

At King of Prussia District, we’re driven by a clear and powerful mission: to accelerate economic growth by making King of Prussia a more vibrant, attractive and prosperous place.
We work toward this goal through five key programs: Physical Improvements, Transportation, Land Use & Zoning, Research & Data Analytics and Marketing & Communications. These programs work collaboratively to shape KOP into Greater Philadelphia’s economic powerhouse and a go-to destination for community and commerce.
So how do we fiscally make it all happen? It’s thanks to robust community and corporate support that King of Prussia District’s operating budget is entirely funded by private sources. We don’t receive any operating funds from Upper Merion Township or Montgomery County. Our programs are funded through a special annual assessment paid by owners of commercial, industrial and multifamily properties within our boundary (check it out here). This fee is based on the assessed value of the property, as determined by Montgomery County, and is set at 0.00098 MILS, or about 3.1% of the total real estate tax bill. In 2025, we adjusted the millage rate for the first time since our founding in 2010 to help sustain and grow our work.
For our larger, long-term projects that require significant capital investment, we actively pursue local, state and federal grants. Many of these grants require matching funds from King of Prussia District, which means we’re always working to make our dollars go further. We also rely on the support of generous corporate partners who sponsor our events, sharing our belief that a rising tide lifts all boats. Their involvement helps us bring more energy and excitement to KOP through events that strengthen our community and amplify our impact.
Thanks to this combined effort—from property owners to grantmakers to corporate partners—we’re able to invest in a stronger, more connected King of Prussia. Together, we’re building something exceptional.
