A KOP Insiders Exclusive with Lawrence “Skip” J. Persick, Partner, Weber Gallagher
For Lawrence “Skip” J. Persick, Partner at Weber Gallagher, King of Prussia offers the perfect combination of what businesses need: convenient access to the region, a comfortable workplace for employees and amenities that make it easier to balance work and everyday life.
Having spent most of his life in the area and watching it evolve over six decades, Skip has a unique perspective on what makes KOP such an appealing place to work and do business.
Persick’s family moved to King of Prussia in 1965, long before the area became the business destination it is today. He remembers when the mall had just a handful of stores and the office parks along American Avenue were industrial properties.
“I joke that I can tell you where everything used to be,” he says.
Today, Persick works from Weber Gallagher’s office at 700 American Avenue. Founded in 1991, the law firm has approximately 160 attorneys across 13 offices in seven states. Its practice areas include workers’ compensation, general liability, insurance coverage and family law, representing businesses, employers, insurance companies and individuals.
The firm relocated its King of Prussia office from Norristown just before the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the location has grown in popularity among attorneys across the firm, particularly those who live in the surrounding suburbs.
“King of Prussia is kind of centrally located for what we do,” Persick explains.
For attorneys who regularly travel to courthouses in Norristown, West Chester, Doylestown, Media and Philadelphia, that central location is a major advantage. With access to several major highways, each destination is generally within about 40 minutes, making it easier to serve clients throughout the region.
Beyond accessibility, KOP offers practical benefits that can make a difference in employees’ daily lives. Persick points to multiple viable commuting routes and the ability to fit shopping, dining and errands into the workday or trip home.
“There’s something to be said for free parking, which people don’t necessarily have in Philadelphia,” he adds. He also appreciates the general feeling of safety and comfort that comes with working in the suburbs.
For businesses navigating hybrid work and encouraging employees to spend more time in the office, these everyday conveniences can be especially valuable. A well-located office with amenities nearby gives employees more reasons to make the commute while creating opportunities for collaboration and stronger workplace relationships.
“Think not only of your bottom line but of your employees,” Persick advises. “If your employees are happy and they’re coming into the office, you’re going to develop all of those traits and qualities in your firm or business.”
And there’s plenty to enjoy outside the office, too. An avid runner and Upper Merion High School track alumnus, Persick regularly runs the Chester Valley Trail and Schuylkill River Trail. He also enjoys local events along First Avenue Linear Park, where outdoor activities and opportunities to connect with colleagues add another dimension to the area.
After watching King of Prussia grow from a familiar hometown into a thriving business hub, Persick sees its continued appeal in its accessibility, convenient amenities and ability to create an environment where both businesses and employees can thrive.
