Black Friday Visits Surpass Pre-Pandemic Levels: King of Prussia Mall Leads the Retail Comeback
While brick-and-mortar retail faces challenges in other areas, King of Prussia continues to demonstrate that in-store shopping remains highly popular and in strong demand.
Placer.ai data indicates a trend of steady growth since 2020 for Black Friday shopping. King of Prussia Mall experienced a 4% increase in visits compared to last year, reaching a peak of 159.6K visits, surpassing even pre-pandemic visits at 156.6K in 2019. As one of the largest malls in the US, King of Prussia Mall continues to attract shoppers with its diverse range of retailers, restaurants and entertainment. King of Prussia Mall outperformed all other area malls, with Willow Grove Park Mall seeing the next highest visitation at 58.5K visitors, followed by Philadelphia Premium Outlets at 48.4K visitors.
Upper Merion also saw a strong Black Friday turnout throughout the township, with King of Prussia Mall remaining the most popular destination. Other high-traffic locations included King of Prussia Town Center, home to retailers like Ulta, Nordstrom Rack and REI, and The Overlook at King of Prussia, which features a mix of shopping and dining options.
The steady increase in visits reflects both King of Prussia Mall’s continued strength and the broader appeal of Upper Merion as a retail and leisure destination. With a growing number of visitors year-over-year, the mall continues to play a pivotal role in the local economy and makes it a top choice for shoppers, during the holidays and beyond.
