Linear Park Partnerships Create Community
With Phase One complete, King of Prussia District is partnering with a mix of public and private stakeholders to construct the next phase of the First Avenue Linear Park. This collaborative effort to improve and expand multimodal transportation options, enhance landscaping and implement stormwater improvements wouldn’t be possible without participation from commercial property owners along this important mixed-use corridor.
A crucial component in the Linear Park development is a public access easement ranging in widths from 10-50 feet, donated by participating property owners. These bikeway easements extend beyond the existing road right-of-way into property setbacks. Property owners participating in Phase One and the Demonstration Project donated these undeveloped easement areas totaling 3 acres and signed maintenance agreements to ensure the trail and amenities remain accessible year-round to the public. In addition to maintaining the improvements installed in each phase, King of Prussia District manages the Linear Park and will program activities in open spaces along the trail, including live music, food trucks, pop-up fitness classes and yard games. When it is safe to gather with friends and coworkers, this new amenity along First Avenue will help draw employees back to adjacent buildings for the entertainment and camaraderie that has been sorely missed this past year in a safe, outdoor space.
