Shedding More Light on First Avenue Linear Park
After a competitive bidding process last fall, King of Prussia District, in partnership with Upper Merion Township, hired Hobbs & Company, Inc. to install 76 solar powered LED lights along the multimodal trail on First Avenue in Moore Park.
Our newest lighting project, scheduled for completion in summer 2024, includes the installation of sixteen (16) light fixtures on the new boardwalk along Trout Creek and sixty (60) 12 ft pedestrian light poles along the remaining sections of the trail.
This project is the final step in completing a continuous multimodal trail along the length of First Avenue. In 2023, three new segments were added to the Linear Park, creating a link between North Gulph Road and Allendale Road. Along with 8-10 ft-wide pathways, the 2023 improvements included new, modern bus shelters, a precast concrete boardwalk along Trout Creek, accessible curb ramps, trash receptacles, planting beds and benches. These enhancements and amenities are open to the public and improve access along First Avenue.
Funding for this project is provided by King of Prussia District, the Montco 2040 Implementation Grant Program and the PA Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Multimodal Transportation Fund.
