Cunningham Piano Company Opens New 15,000 SF King of Prussia Location
KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — Cunningham Piano Company, one of the Philadelphia region’s most enduring names in music, opens its expansive new 15,000-square-foot location at 450 S. Henderson Road in King of Prussia on October 1, 2026, bringing piano sales, restoration, music education, innovative technology and live performance together under one roof.
The new facility will house an extraordinary 200 to 300 pianos, ranging from traditional acoustic instruments to some of the most technologically advanced pianos available today. At the heart of the new location will be the Yamaha Experience Room, an immersive, hands-on space where musicians can explore how cutting-edge technology is transforming the way pianos are played, experienced and enjoyed.
The facility will also include a 150-seat performance center, five private instruction rooms and Cunningham’s renowned piano restoration operation, further establishing the new King of Prussia location as a destination for musicians of all ages and abilities.
“The Yamaha Experience Room is really about experiencing what the future of the piano can be,” said Tim Oliver, co-owner of Cunningham Piano Company. “Guests will be able to experience Yamaha’s remarkable Disklavier, which combines the artistry and craftsmanship of an acoustic piano with advanced reproducing and digital technology, alongside the latest Clavinova digital pianos. Our goal isn’t to create 19th-century musicians; it’s to usher in 21st-century musicians by giving them access to the instruments, technology and experiences that are shaping the future of music.”
Oliver brings the perspective of a professional musician as well as a business owner to that mission. An accomplished pianist and classical tenor, he earned his degree in piano performance from Lycoming College and has performed on major Philadelphia stages and internationally. Since joining Cunningham Piano in 1997 and later becoming co-owner, Oliver has helped lead the company’s growth, including the revival of the historic Matchless Cunningham piano and the expansion of its restoration and remanufacturing capabilities.
That combination of musicianship, craftsmanship and innovation runs throughout Cunningham’s leadership team.
Co-owner Rich Galassini, who joined Cunningham in 1987, is a musician, music educator and vocalist whose career has included some extraordinary moments in Philadelphia music history. A Temple University graduate with degrees in music education and vocal performance, Galassini is also a tenor. When Pope Francis visited Philadelphia in 2015, Cunningham donated the Rodgers organ used for the papal events, the type of instrument preferred by the Pope and his musicians for performances outside the Vatican. Galassini also had the opportunity to sing in the choir for Pope Francis at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway alongside Andrea Bocelli. He has since performed with Bocelli again at the Wells Fargo Center.
Hugh Sung, Vice President of Cunningham Piano Company, brings another dimension to the company’s leadership through his career as an internationally accomplished concert pianist, educator and music technology innovator. A Philadelphia native, Sung made his debut with The Philadelphia Orchestra at just 11 years old and entered the Curtis Institute of Music at 13. He went on to perform internationally, collaborate with renowned musicians and serve on the faculty of Curtis. Sung has also been a pioneer in combining music with technology, including co-founding AirTurn, which developed wireless technology allowing musicians to turn digital sheet-music pages hands-free.
Together, Galassini, Oliver and Sung represent an unusual combination of professional performance, music education, piano craftsmanship, technology and business leadership, experience that is helping shape Cunningham’s vision for its new King of Prussia home.
The King of Prussia location represents a significant expansion for a company whose roots date back to 1891. For more than a century, Cunningham Piano Company has served professional musicians, educators, students, families and institutions throughout the region while building a national reputation for piano sales, restoration and service.
The new facility is designed to carry that legacy forward while reimagining what a piano showroom can be. Rather than serving solely as a place to purchase an instrument, Cunningham’s leadership envisions the King of Prussia location as a destination where people can experience music firsthand, whether they are professional musicians, lifelong players, students just beginning lessons or families exploring music for the first time.
A centerpiece of that vision is the new performance center, which will allow Cunningham to host concerts, recitals, educational programs, demonstrations, master classes and community events.
Cunningham Piano Company will celebrate the new location with a Grand Opening Concert on Friday, November 6, 2026, featuring a special performance by acclaimed pianist Eric Wortham, widely known for his work with global superstar Adele.
Wortham, a Philadelphia native, has performed with major artists and on stages around the world. His appearance at Cunningham will give guests the opportunity to experience the new performance center exactly as it was intended — with an accomplished musician at the piano and an audience gathered around live music.
The November 6 performance will also launch Cunningham’s First Fridays Concert Series, with monthly performances planned through May featuring national, regional and local talent.
The new location will showcase the changing relationship between traditional piano craftsmanship and technology.
Among the featured instruments will be Yamaha Disklavier, a sophisticated reproducing piano that is first and foremost an acoustic piano but incorporates technology capable of recording and reproducing performances with remarkable precision. Cunningham will also showcase Yamaha’s Clavinova digital piano line, offering visitors the opportunity to explore how technology is expanding the ways musicians learn, practice, perform and create.
At the same time, Cunningham will continue the craftsmanship and personalized service that have defined the company for generations. Its restoration work preserves and renews instruments that can carry decades — and often generations — of musical history, while its sales and educational teams help musicians find instruments suited to how they play and how they hope to grow.
Music education will also be an important component of the King of Prussia facility, reflecting Cunningham’s longstanding belief that access to music can have a lasting impact on young people and communities. Five private instruction rooms will offer students opportunities to participate in piano, strings and voice lessons.
The new location combines Cunningham’s historic Germantown restoration factory, which closed in early 2026, with its previous King of Prussia retail location. The new site brings the two workforces together under one roof, employing approximately 15 technicians, instructors and sales associates.
The King of Prussia facility also gives Cunningham a central presence in one of the Philadelphia region’s most accessible destinations, allowing the company to serve musicians and families from Philadelphia, the Main Line, Montgomery County, Chester County and communities throughout the Delaware Valley.
“We want people to walk through the doors even if they aren’t currently shopping for a piano,” said Galassini. “Come hear an artist perform. Bring a child to experience live music. Learn how a piano is restored. Meet other musicians. We want Cunningham Piano Company to be a gathering place for the region’s music community.”
The new King of Prussia location is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.; and Monday by appointment.
