Valley Forge Gateway Trail Receives $450,000 in State Funding to Advance Segment 5

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (September 21, 2026) –The Valley Forge Gateway Trail Partnership announced today that Montgomery County has been awarded a $450,000 Local Share Account (LSA) grant to advance Segment 5 of the Valley Forge Gateway Trail. The award represents a significant step toward securing the estimated $2.1 million needed to construct the segment along North Gulph Road.

The funding was announced by Pennsylvania State Representative Tim Briggs in partnership with State Senator Amanda Cappelletti as part of more than $1.77 million in LSA grants awarded to projects throughout the 149th Legislative District.

Segment 5 is a critical half-mile section of the Valley Forge Gateway Trail that will extend from the already completed Segment 4 at Freedom Business Center Drive along North Gulph Road to Goddard Boulevard. There, it will connect with the already constructed Segment 6, which runs through the Village at Valley Forge. Together, these segments will create a key multimodal connection through one of Upper Merion Township’s busiest areas for employment, entertainment, retail, healthcare and residential development.

“Expanding our trail network gives residents more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors while creating stronger connections between our communities,” said Representative Briggs. “The Valley Forge Gateway Trail is an important regional investment, and this funding will help move Segment 5 forward and bring us closer to a more connected and accessible trail system.”

The Local Share Account program is funded through gaming revenues distributed under the Pennsylvania Race Horse Development and Gaming Act through the Commonwealth Financing Authority. The program supports projects in the public interest that improve quality of life for residents and communities across Pennsylvania.
