Now Open: Faherty
Somewhere, a pair of twins who once sold clothes out of a van are feeling pretty good about themselves right now.
Faherty is now open at King of Prussia Mall, bringing its laid-back coastal style to shoppers who’d rather look like they just stepped off a boat than off a treadmill. Twin brothers Mike and Alex Faherty started the brand in 2013 with Alex’s wife, Kerry Docherty, and it’s since grown from a scrappy startup into a label with more than 80 stores nationwide.
The first collection was a single men’s swim short made from recycled water bottles and the brothers launched it by driving cross-country in what they called a “Beach Shack on Wheels,” selling to local boutiques along the way. That founding scrappiness stuck. Faherty is now a certified B Corporation and a member of 1% for the Planet, and the collection still leans on organic cotton, recycled materials and linen rather than anything stiff or overdesigned.
Shoppers will find flannels, knit shirts, denim, dresses, outerwear and swimwear inside, including the brand’s cult-favorite Legend Sweater Shirt. Faherty is located on the mall’s upper level, near Nordstrom and between Lilly Pulitzer and Lucky Brand Jeans.
