King of Prussia District Celebrates Major Trail Network Funding
King of Prussia District finished 2025 with exciting progress for our expanding trail network in Upper Merion.
We are thrilled to announce that, with support from our state elected officials and DCED Secretary Rick Siger, the Commonwealth Financing Authority approved three grant requests totaling $629,375. These funds will help us construct the Moore Road and Valley Forge Gateway Trails and advance planning and concept design for the next phase of the multimodal path along North Gulph Road, connecting the Chester Valley Trail with Valley Forge National Historical Park.
We were awarded $100,000 in Local Share Account funding, in partnership with Upper Merion Township, to build a pedestrian bridge over Trout Creek as part of the Moore Road Multimodal Trail project. This project is moving to final design for a multimodal path on both sides of Moore Road, connecting the First Avenue Linear Park with the Schuylkill River Trail West. The new trail will provide safe, convenient pedestrian connections to public amenities along Moore Road, First Avenue and the Schuylkill River Trail.
The Upper Merion Transportation Authority received $500,000 in Local Share Account funding to construct the Valley Forge Gateway Trail along North Gulph Road. This will be the first section of multimodal trail along this corridor since the Provco Group developed a segment as part of the Topgolf development project. The Gateway Trail will extend from First Avenue to Valley Forge National Historical Park’s boundary at Richards Road. In addition, King of Prussia District was awarded $129,375 through the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program to advance conceptual designs filling in trail gaps between Freedom Business Center Drive and the Chester Valley Trail.
These infrastructure improvements will bring substantial benefits to our community and region. The Circuit Trail Coalition identified the Gulph Road trail segments in King of Prussia as a top-priority project in its 2022 Network Gap Analysis, emphasizing the importance of connecting parks, recreation areas and employment hubs. Governor Shapiro, with strong support from Senator Amanda Cappelletti and Representative Tim Briggs, recognized the significance of these projects, highlighting the “focus on strengthening communities, enhancing infrastructure, and spurring economic development across Pennsylvania.”
