Investing in the Future: UMASD by the Numbers

August 25 marked the start of the 2025–26 school year for Upper Merion Area School District (UMASD), bringing students and teachers back into classrooms across the township. As families settled into new routines, the most recent Pennsylvania Department of Education data showed that UMASD enrolled 4,444 students in 2024–25 across its seven schools: five elementary schools, one middle school and Upper Merion Area High School. See UMASD 2024–25 enrollment by school and grade.
UMASD starts this school year with recognition that reflects both its academics and its community. In Niche’s 2025 rankings, the district was named the 36th Best School District in Pennsylvania and the 16th Most Diverse out of 497 school districts statewide. These rankings highlight not only the district’s educational strength but also its inclusive student body. See UMASD 2024–25 enrollment by race.
Building on this foundation of recognition, UMASD continues to invest heavily in its students. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the district spent $29,343 per student in 2024–25, a 5% increase from the prior year, supporting teachers, technology, programs and student services. That commitment is also reflected in new facilities—most notably the opening of the new Upper Merion Area High School in August 2023, a 300K SF, $150M state-of-the-art campus featuring an indoor track, auditorium, fitness center and pool. The results of this investment are evident in the accomplishments of the Class of 2025, with graduates moving on to leading universities such as Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, Penn, NYU, Drexel and Georgia Tech, while others pursue military service and professional careers.

That same spirit of investment extends beyond the classroom. Since 2018, King of Prussia District has contributed $36,500 in scholarships and teacher grants, underscoring a commitment to supporting both students and educators. Together with UMASD’s ongoing achievements, these efforts reflect a community that continues to grow stronger by investing in its future.
