A KOP Insiders Exclusive at Stuart + Associates with Patrick Stuart
In King of Prussia, firms like Stuart & Associates help shape the experience of the community itself.
“Stuart & Associates is a land planning and landscape architecture firm based right here in King of Prussia,” says President Patrick Stuart. “We’re a small team of eight people, but we work across a wide variety of projects, from residential and corporate campuses to parks, colleges and universities. No two days are the same.”
That variety is by design. As a boutique firm, Stuart & Associates leans into a hands-on, highly adaptable approach. “I might be out tagging trees in the morning and testifying at a zoning hearing in the evening,” Stuart explains. “That’s what I love about it—we’re small enough to stay involved in every detail, and every project brings a different or unique challenge.”
The firm has deep roots in the region. Founded in 1979 and based in King of Prussia since the mid-1980s, it has grown alongside the community it serves. Stuart himself has an even longer connection. “I grew up here,” he says. “I’ve seen how much this area has evolved and it’s been exciting to be part of that in some small way.”

Over the years, Stuart & Associates has contributed to projects across Upper Merion Township, including corporate campuses, residential communities, and public spaces. One standout is Park Square, a large-scale multifamily development in King of Prussia’s Moore Park. The project helped expand the firm’s work in residential placemaking. More recently, the team has played a key role in designing Recharge Park, a new public space opening late spring of 2026 that reflects how King of Prussia continues to rethink the relationship between work, wellness and the environment.
“We wanted it to be a space where people could reset and host events for the community and surrounding businesses. We adapted the space yet wanted to maintain some of the key site features including the existing mature trees and the large open lawn overlooking Valley Forge Park,” Stuart says. “It’s right along the First Avenue Linear Park’s trail, giving people the opportunity to bike or walk to the location, have an outdoor meeting, attend prospective events, or just rest in one of the reused wind-turbine swings.”
The park also reflects broader shifts in design priorities. “There’s a big push toward sustainability,” he explains. “Using renewable energy, selecting materials that are more environmentally responsible, designing landscapes that don’t require irrigation— that’s all becoming industry standard.”
“I’m really interested to see how areas like Moore Park evolve,” Stuart says. “Bringing in more residential, more density—it creates energy. It turns a place that might feel quiet on the weekends into something much more vibrant.”
For Stuart & Associates, the future is about staying true to what has always set the firm apart: thoughtful, site-specific design and steady, intentional growth. “We like being a boutique firm,” he says. “We’re not trying to do the same thing over and over. Every project is shaped by the client, the environment and the community around it.”
And for businesses, King of Prussia continues to offer a compelling draw. “It’s central to everything—our clients, our projects, our team,” Stuart says. “But beyond that, it’s just a great place to be. There are incredible dining options, recreation opportunities, places to meet, places to unwind. On a nice day, we’ll grab lunch and head over to Valley Forge National Park. You can’t beat that.”
