First Avenue Linear Park Phase Two Construction Project Open for Bids
Upper Merion Township, in partnership with King of Prussia District, is advertising for bid Phase Two construction of the First Avenue Linear Park. This phase of the Linear Park will be constructed on 6 additional parcels to create a continuous multimodal pathway along First Avenue from Allendale Road to North Gulph Road. Additional pedestrian improvements will be made outside of the Phase Two core by The Provco Group in anticipation of the Topgolf entertainment venue. Besides 8-10 ft-wide pathways, this multimodal project includes installation of pedestrian lighting, improved bus stop facilities, a precast concrete boardwalk along Trout Creek, and accessible curb ramps.
All Bid Documents and solicitation details are available at no cost through PennBid, a regional online bid management program, for the First Avenue Linear Park Phase Two project until 10 AM, January 28, 2022, at which time they will be opened and read aloud at the Upper Merion Township Municipal Building at 175 West Valley Forge Road in King of Prussia. There will be no pre-bid meeting held. Bidder’s questions are due by 10 AM on January 14, 2022. Answers will be posted by January 21, 2022. This project involves the demolition of existing pavements, and the furnishing and installation of paving, walls, boardwalk, bus shelter, lights, soils and plants.
This phase of the project builds on the success of the Demonstration Park completed in 2017 and Phase One completed in 2020 in Moore Park. These landscape improvements are part of a multiphase complete streets campaign that includes vibrant rain gardens and planting beds, new bus shelters, shade trees and an ADA-accessible multimodal recreational path open to the public. The project is widely supported and will run through an area where 8,000 employees and visitors will have direct access to the amenity. This project is funded, in part, by grants from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Office of Budget, Commonwealth Finance Authority, and a Montgomery County 2040 Implementation Grant, with financial resources and project management by King of Prussia District.
