Another Year of Spreading Cheer with Igloo Garden on the Green & Annual Food Drive

This year, our community came together once again to make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors who are food insufficient.

Our 13th Annual KOP Takes Out Hunger Food Drive, that ran from November 1 – December 5, was produced in partnership with Conlin’s Print and presented by Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Businesses throughout King of Prussia hosted 32 donations boxes, all benefiting Upper Merion Area Community Cupboard (UMACC).

In conjunction with the food drive, we also held our enchanting pop-up igloo garden, Igloo Garden on the Green, from November 5-19, extending the event to two weeks due to its popularity in past years. This magical takeout dining experience featured six heated igloos, beautifully furnished and decorated by AVE King of Prussia and Ethan Allen, all complete with bluetooth speakers for a personalized soundtrack, cozy blankets and LED lighting. Reservations fees ($15pp for lunch and $20pp for dinner) benefited the Community Cupboard. We were humbled by the amount of support we received, with nights and weekends fully booked for the duration of the event. In total, we saw 547 reservations and 1,504 guests joined us to support UMACC.

Thanks to the overwhelming contributions from our community, we were able to donate a check for $31,698 to UMACC, the single largest monetary donation they have every received, along with 3,319 pounds of food and goods! Over the past three years, we have raised $71,588 to help the food insufficient in our community! Special thanks to the Upper Merion Area football team for helping us unload food donations once again this year!
