Upper Merion is home to an abundance of incredible small businesses that many in our community have grown to know and love. The holidays are the perfect time to shine a spotlight on some of our favorite small businesses in King of Prussia. Each week, Upper Merion Township will feature a Small Business Hero and share their story. This week’s featured small business hero is Koren Draper of The LED Life.

While the year 2020 has brought darkness to so many people, one Upper Merion entrepreneur is bringing light to the world – literally! King of Prussia resident Koren Draper launched her business, The LED Life, in October 2020 after being laid off from her job during the pandemic. Having extensively studied e-commerce, she found herself no longer constrained by a full-time job and able to spend her time doing product research, building her website and ultimately launching her business.

Koren now operates The LED Life as an online retail store out of her home in King of Prussia, which currently features LED strip lights, which are “a hot, trendy lighting product”, according to Koren. “LED strip lights are easy to install, have fun colors, and kids like to use them in their bedroom.” Grown-ups can use them too to create ambience anywhere around the home.

So far, Koren reports that her business is off to a good start, with about half of her customers being Upper Merion residents. One customer notes, “Koren is dedicated to providing the best customer service out there. She has also done a significant amount of product research to make sure she is offering the best LED lights. Koren realizes that we all need a little color and fun in our lives, and that’s exactly what these LED lights provide. My kids love them!” Koren is continuing to grow her business, including finding more U.S. suppliers so that she can increase her product line.

As a single mother of two, community and family have always been important to Koren. “Small businesses are vastly important to communities because they give people the ability to express their creativity, connect with other local people, create income, and live their dreams,” she states. “Now, more than ever, we should support our local small businesses. I am thankful to be a part of the strong community in King of Prussia.”

Congratulations, Koren Draper, Founder and Owner of The LED Life, on your nomination as an Upper Merion Township Small Business Hero!
