Community Who Cares: RSVP Volunteers

In a world where community connection is more important than ever, RSVP Volunteers (RSVP) stands as a shining example of how experience, compassion and purpose come together to make a difference.
RSVP empowers adults to remain actively engaged in their communities through meaningful volunteer opportunities, paving the way for anyone looking to contribute to make a meaningful impact.
RSVP began serving Montgomery County in 1973, as a grantee of the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program. Throughout the last half century, it has expanded its efforts to serve multiple counties: Montgomery, Chester, Delaware and Philadelphia counties.
The program channels the skills, wisdom and time of volunteers into service roles that meet critical education and wellness needs in the community. From its inception, RSVP is grounded in the belief that volunteering not only helps others but also enhances the lives of the volunteers themselves by promoting health, purpose and social connection.
Some volunteers serve as reading coaches and math tutors, fostering academic growth and emotional support for students. Others work at food pantries, deliver Meals on Wheels and help with community gardens to ensure no neighbor goes hungry. Some provide companionship to homebound seniors, offer Medicare counseling and digital skills training to keep adults connected and safe online. RSVP is also committed to supporting nonprofit capacity building through volunteer services and managerial consulting.
These efforts fill important gaps in social services and bring a sense of continuity, wisdom and community spirit to the people and organizations they support.
Getting involved with RSVP is both easy and rewarding. Upon enrollment, volunteers are matched with opportunities that align with their interests, skills and availability. RSVP provides orientation, ongoing support and excess liability coverage while volunteering.
RSVP recruits volunteer 18 years and older, aiming to find the right opportunity for your time commitment and schedule. Whether you’re recently retired, semi-retired or simply have some free time in which you’d like contribute meaningfully, RSVP offers a flexible, fulfilling pathway to give back and gain in return.
RSVP is more than a volunteer program. It’s a community of caring individuals committed to uplifting others. Through education, wellness, companionship and compassion, these volunteers show us all that the desire to serve is universal and connects us all.
