It’s a day of celebration at Valley Forge National Historical Park, with artillery demonstrations, historical games, an All-American cook-out, music, and more!
Games, Crafts, and Cook-out
Visitor Center Lawn | 11 AM – 3 PM
Participate in “revolutionary” games and crafts like the fire cake toss, Patrick Henry’s dunk tank, and make your own tricorn hat. Grab a burger, hot dog, and other snacks and enjoy a picnic lunch under the shade trees on the Visitor Center lawn.
Muhlenberg Brigade Huts | 11 AM, 1 PM, & 3 PM
Park Rangers and volunteers in continental uniform will present a 20-minute program about the Valley Forge encampment featuring the training developed and taught by Von Steuben. Living historians will form a line and….make ready, take aim, fire!
Readings of the Declaration of Independence
Visitor Center Lawn | 11:30 AM, 12:30 PM, & 1:30 PM
Join Benjamin Franklin as he recites the Declaration of Independence and sign your “John Hancock” to the bottom of our copy.
Join the Continental Army
Mini Parade | 11:45, 12:45, & 1:45
Kids can “enlist” in the Continental Army and learn to march and drill like a Continental Soldier.
The Find Your Park Photo Booth
The National Park Service turn’s 100 this year, and Valley Forge as a national park turns 40! Find out how you can join in the celebration. There will be all sorts of information, and a table full of props to take your truly revolutionary photo against a variety of back drops!

40-minute interpretive walks depart from the Visitor Center and follows the Joseph Plumb Martin Trail 1/4 mile to the Muhlenberg Brigade Huts.

90-minute guided tour makes extended stops at the Muhlenberg Brigade huts and Washington’s Headquarters. Get your tickets inside the Visitor Center.
Ongoing stories from 11 am – 4 pm
Listen as Once Upon A Nation storytellers share riveting stories of the Valley Forge encampment and how it became a turning point in the Revolutionary War. Benches are located on the Train Station platform at Washington’s Headquarters and in front of the Visitor Center.
